Battlefield Creek Park. Entrance to parking lot is on King St. just one driveway east of Centennial Pkwy.

Depends on snow but not more than 8 km

Leisurely / Moderate / Fast

4 kmph depends on snow and trail conditions.

Depends on snow but not more than 2 hrs.

TERRAIN:

Easy / Moderate / Challenging

Moderate to challenging due to snow.

Loop

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This loop takes in Battlefield Creek Park and escarpment trails on both sides of Centennial Pkwy. 

ONLINE REGISTRATION NEEDED

Yes, A must. Leaders appreciate early registration and up to at least 24 hours before the event. Up to 12 participants are welcome.

CANCELLATION

If your plans change, please self-cancel as soon as possible so that other HOC members may take your spot.

The club may cancel due to bad weather that may impact the safety of participants or due to low attendance.

REGISTRATION OPENS

2 weeks prior to the hike

WHAT TO BRING

Wear supportive hiking boots with good tread.

Bring hiking poles and icers.

Dress in layers according to the weather.

Carry water and snacks.

IMPORTANT COVID REMINDERS

Covid measures  will be observed.

GUIDING NOTES:

HIKE PACE -  Leisure: 3 km/hr or less. Moderate: 3-4 km/hr or Fast: 4-5km/hr. All paces are average and depending on the terrain.

TERRAIN - Easy: mostly flat and usually good footing (i.e. rail trails, Confederation Park, Bay Front Park), Moderate: some hills and/or poor footing (Bruce Trail, Dundas Valley, etc.) and Challenging: steep hills and strenuous footing (Bruce Trail, some trails in Short Hills, Dundas Valley and Red Hill Valley). Please note variations can be expected with weather conditions.
